Spite and Malice does not have a strict setting other than the Potter universe (Potterverse). Our members are welcome to create characters in any era of wizarding history play in the Potterverse in any time they want, from the times of Merlin or Godric Gryffindor, or in Post Potter and beyond! All we ask is that you clearly state the setting and year in every post and in your characters' plotters/threads.
[break][break]
At Spite and Malice, we do not follow the traditional system of applications separate from your plot page. Instead, your application is also your character's plotter! It's easier this way and make finding all the information on a character that much easier when it is all in one place. When creating your character and submitting it for approval, you will need to use the template provided for you. Once approved, your application/plotter will be moved to the appropriate sub-board and will then become your plotter to use for all your plotting needs.
[break][break]
Spite and Malice does not have a canon claim because we allow for multiples of the same canon to be created in order to prevent a takeover of the limited amount of canons, especially the high demand ones. We do ask, however, that you 1) list your alias in your plotter and account, 2) still create your face claim and who's who claim and 3) keep track of your personal threads and plots, so we know which Harry Potter or Sirius Black is played by who.
[break][break]
No, originals cannot share a face claim unless they're for twins or triplets. The only face claims that should be duplicated are those for the same character and should only really happen with stars like Daniel Radcliffe for Harry, ect. Originals were not featured in the movies, therefore have no reason to *need* to share a face, unless they are twins are triplets.
[break][break]
Life gets hectic and sometimes, you don't know when things will pick up and prevent you from regularly posting. With that being said, we do not have activity checks. However, if you do play someone with a very high demand face claim as an original, or are gone for over a month without at least logging in, you will be warned via PM and/or email that you may be deleted. If you do not log in or post within a week of that notice, you will be deleted.
[break][break]
We save all threads, plotters ect in our archives, so in the case that you are deleted and want to come back, just recreate your account with the same name you registered with and shoot an admin an email! We can bring all your things back from the dead...in the non creepy way of course.
[break][break]
Spite and Malice tries to keep things as canon as possible, so please don't kill Sirius Black in 5th year, or have Snape and Lily live happily ever after as it would disrupt the entire story of Harry Potter. You are free to create interesting plots in any era as long as it wouldn't ruin or contradict canon. Of course, canon is very loosely applied to eras like post-potter or founder's era since they are not as detailed as marauder's or trio's era. If we do see things in threads or plots happening that divert from canon completely and contradict the story, you will be required to alter it to better fit.
[break][break]
YES! Controversy and messed up people are realistic and creative, and Spite and Malice does not want to damper creativity. As long as your plotter and threads retain a PG-13 rating, you will be free to play as you please. For any scenes that get too hot and steamy or simply too disturbing for a 13 year old to handle, please either fade to black, vaguely word it, or take it off of the site. This isn't our rules, but it is Proboards'.
