JAMES IGNOTUS POTTER [break]

[attr="class","GGcontainer1temp1"] [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]6TH YEAR [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]16(38) [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]11", MAHOGANY, PLIABLE, PHOENIX TAIL [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]ANIMAGUS[BREAk] STAG [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] [break]PATRONUS: STAG [attr="class","GGboxtemp1"] DYLAN O'BRIEN | [attr="class","GGcontainer2temp1"][break][break] [attr="class","GGcontenttemp1"] ::PERSONALITY:: Rebellious;;[break] Originally a complete trouble maker, James has grown up a little bit (and a little more than his first attempt at Hogwarts because he has some idea of what has happened, though not much) but he's still fond of pranks and jokes. He's also known for being a bit of a bully, but he is slowly growing [break][break] Arrogant;;[break] There is no denying that Mr. Potter can be, as Evans has so elegantly put it, an arrogant toe rag. He definitely thinks too much of himself and expects others to think the exact same thing. And for good reason, he believes. Who wouldn't want to be James Ignotus Potter? He Loyal;;[break] James has three very good friends: Remus, Sirius, and Peter (though the latter is less so). He has also had his eye on Lily Evans for several years, and would never intentionally do anything to hurt her, though he's done plenty intentionally to get on her bad side (he thinks he was cute, but what does he know?). His most loyal act, however, was probably becoming an animagus so Remus could shift without more fear than necessary. He and Sirius (and Peter, to an extent he supposed, though there's not much a rat could really do) would keep Remus in line during his furry time of the month. His second most loyal act is one that he doesn't even remember – James protected his wife and son, or at least tried to. He stalled the Dark Lord as long as possible before dying at his hand. Again, he doesn't remember this, but how could he not find out with as many times as it's mentioned in books?[break][break] Brave;;[break] Potter is a true Gryffindor, with bravery running through his veins. Aside from the fact that he had the guts early on to try out for the Quidditch team and that he has gotten rejected by Lily multiple times a year and still keeps coming back for more, James Potter is not afraid to be who he is, and not change (at least drastically) for anyone, Evans included. While he has grown up a lot in the years since he started Hogwarts, his personality has never drastically changed, and despite popular belief, his more “recent” changes have not been because of Lily, but because he has sincerely grown up (partially because of the death of his parents).[break][break] Bully;;[break] Especially in the past, James has been more than a bit of a bully. He firmly believes he is just playing pranks in the name of fun, but the truth is that not everyone appreciates his playful pranky nature. He is particularly fond of pranking Slytherins and has developed an extreme distaste for Severus Snape, whether because he's a greasy twit or because he was friends with Lily, no one can really say. Though James has noticeably toned his pranking down a little, he has definitely not stopped.[break][break] ::HISTORY:: [break]Mr. and Mrs. Potter had their first and only child in March 1960 on the 27th. James was born into an open-minded pureblood wizarding family with a considerable amount of money. His parents were a bit older than others with children his age and since James was an only child, he was given just about anything that he wanted. This definitely had an impact on his personality later in life. He grew up believing he could do little to no wrong and was very proud. Still, he wasn't a bad person, but he didn't really live up to the middle name he was given. Ignotus was said to be the humblest of the three brothers in the tale of the Deathly Hallows, and supposedly an ancestor of the Potter family. At first, James Potter was anything but humble. As he grew up he learned what talents he had and he used them to his advantage. At an early age he began to show signs of magic, and while his parents were thrilled, James caused havoc. He would fly around the house on an every day broom stick, knocking things over as he went. He grew up loving the game of Quidditch and vowed that he would one day play the game with others.[break][break] When his letter for Hogwarts came, the entire family was ecstatic. Both of his parents and his grandparents had been in Gryffindor, and James just knew that's where he would be too. His parents took him out to get all of his school supplies. He had a little trouble with getting a wand before he found one that suited him well. The Wandmaker said that it would be perfect for Transfiguration, but not knowing what his future held, James shrugged that fact off. He only cared that he had the wand. It was basically the most wizard-like thing that he had owned so far. Since he was a spoiled little brat, James got everything that he wanted as far as school supplies went, and was even bought a brand new owl. She was a beautiful thing – a Northern Saw-whet Owl. She was tiny when he got her, just a baby. And she didn't really grow much over the years. It was very not like James to own something so tiny and cute and be so fond of it, but there weren't a lot of people who knew about it either, since his family owl usually carried the mail. He named his owl Lilah and she was more of a pet than a mail owl, but she did carry letters for him from time-to-time.[break][break] He met one of his best friends (and one of his enemies for that matter... and the girl of his dreams) on the first train ride to Hogwarts. James Bonded with Sirius Black over a mutual dislike for the Slytherin house, and for the wanna be Slytherin that they had ended up sitting next to for a little while. James was not shy about saying that he thought Gryffindor was the best house and that that was where he wanted to be placed. He didn't stay in the same place long though, because it turned out that Sirius also enjoyed pranks and the two were off to be mischievous on the train.[break][break] James got his wish to be placed in Gryffindor, and to his delight Sirius was placed in the same house as well. Then there was that Lily girl. Even at eleven-years-old he was interested in her. Maybe not romantically, but he certainly liked her. He did not like that she seemed to be friends with the greasy snake that she had been on the train with. At first it was just a random interest – something that was in the back of his mind when he saw her. He was much more interested in spending time with his friends. He and Sirius continued their friendship, and they added Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew to their group as well. Mr. Potter quickly developed a talent for Charms and Transfiguration, something he probably should have foreseen when he had been told that his wand was good for the latter subject. The young Gryffindor boy was almost immediately aware that he was at least a decently powerful wizard, though he tended to focus more on playful hexes than actual classwork.[break][break] The rivalry with Snape only increased through their school years. His friends told James that Snivellous was jealous of him. After all, James was popular, had real friends, and was very good at Quidditch – he had actually gotten to be on the team during his first high school years. But the reason didn't really matter to James. What mattered was that for some reason, Snape and Lily were close. James didn't like that. It didn't help that he had a playful pranking nature in the first place, and was a bully in some ways. James liked to show off and one of those ways to show off was to make fun of other people.[break][break] He realized during his third year that he really did like Lily Evans. Though she seemed to have no interest in him, James began to flirt with her and tried to impress her. Not with his money, because James was a lot of things but he was not that guy, but by trying to stand up for her, or flirtingly pick on her (something he thought was harmless). He tried running into her “accidentally” on purpose. For some reason his sort of charm had not apparently worked on the Evans girl, but that didn't discourage him. He imagined he annoyed his friends a bit when he talked about her, but he couldn't help it. He began asking her out in his fifth year, making his feelings for her (or at least some of them) known to just about everyone at the school. He was frequently turned down, but he kept asking.[break][break] His fifth year was a time of firsts for him. He finally was able to transform himself into a stag, something he had been working on with his friends since his second year when they found out that Remus was a werewolf. Of course, James being James, he had no intention of registering. He wanted to be free to change with his friends during the full moon when Remus would need them the most. It was the year that he began asking Lily out, and maybe most importantly, it was the year that they had their OWLs. It was after some of their exams that James was out near the lake visiting with his friends and boasting a little about a Transfiguration test. It was perfect timing that Snivellous had walked out and sat in their area, though definitely apart from where they were. Mostly because he was bored, James decided that he and his friends should pay the Slytherin a visit. He performed a charm on Snape that hung him from the air by his ankles, and only at Lily's insistence did he let the boy down. He knew for a fact that he was better than Snape that day because the greasy haired boy called Lily, the girl of James's dreams, a mudblood. He thought about hexing Snape again just because of that but he was distracted by the fact that Lily thought he was less appealing than the Giant Squid, and claimed that James was just as bad as Severus. It was the first time James had actually thought about the kinds of things he was doing, but he still didn't feel bad for jinxing Snape.[break][break] Snape eventually caught on to the times that Remus and his friends were disappearing, and Sirius let on that he knew how to get past the Whomping Willow. It was then that James did something he never thought he would actually do. Without thinking about it, when Snape got too close, James pulled him back, out of the way and harm of his werewolf friend. He really didn't think he had it in him to do something nice for the greasy bastard, especially after the Slytherin had called Lily a mudblood, but he had never dreamed of killing Snape. Sure, he teased him a lot, but he would have never ended his life. The act didn't make James think any less of Sirius, but it did make him more careful about what they were doing. Of course, Snape claimed that James only did it to avoid being expelled. James might have agreed with the Slytherin boy if he hadn't acted instinctively.[break][break] Mr. and Mrs. Potter allowed Sirius to move in with them during the boys' sixth year. It was great and awkward at the same time. James wasn't used to having another kid in the house, but what better person than one of his best friends to have over? And they had gotten Sirius out of an uncomfortable situation, so it was a double win.[break][break] It was the summer after his sixth year that James really began to grow up and mature. For some reason, constant pointless hexing held no desire for him anymore. Sure, he'd get into a mood where playing pranks was fun, but it occurred much less than before. He came into his seventh year as a less obnoxious Gryffindor and as Head Boy. He got the news early his seventh year that his parents had passed. He was allowed to take a couple of weeks from class and Head Boy duties to bury his parents, who had died of a wizarding disease. He inherited their money, but since he was more mature than he'd been before he put most of it into Gringott's. He did his best to bounce back with his playful attitude when he returned to school, but it was another few months before he really learned to live with the fact that his parents were gone.[break][break] Maybe it was that she felt sorry for him, or maybe it was because he really had grown up, but for whatever reason, when James asked Lily out at one point in the year she said yes. He was truthfully unsure of what to do at that point. He'd been asking for years and she had finally accepted. They graduated as Head Boy and Head Girl, and were married shortly after school.[break][break] Though James does not remember it, he participated in the First Wizarding War. He also does not remember that he had a son. He does not know how brave he was for stalling Lord Voldemort when he finally found them. But he does know that he died. James was brought back through the veil as his sixteen-year-old self, just very recently. He has not tried out for Quidditch, since he knows he is dead and isn't really sure what he should do.[break][break] [break] ::WHAT JAMES KNOWS:: [break][break]**James knows that he has died. He does not know how, and he does not know why, but he does remember being pulled through the veil. [break]**James knows that he is older than he looks, but he does not know how old. [break]**James knows that he will date Lily, but only because he has seen a reference to it in his family tree. [break]**He knows that his home in Godric's Hollow is gone, because he has already visited. [break]**James does not know that he has a son, but he will soon find out because news of Harry is everywhere. He has no memory of any event after his seventh year in Hogwarts. [break]**James does not know if his parents will come back from the veil. [break]**James does not remember coming back to see Harry through the Resurrection Stone. |
